Supplementation can be confusing.

If you have been diagnosed with HPV, you might be wondering, is there a supplement you can take? How much and when should you take it? And how do you know if it is working?

The good news, you can supplement to support your immune system to defend against HPV. Recommended supplements and dosages will depend on the supplement and the person’s specific needs.

Papillex has formulated two nutritional supplements based on the current evidence-based research on HPV. Our products are formulated with nutrients known to be associated with HPV infections and have been evaluated to support the immune response against viral infections like HPV.

In this blog, we spill the beans on our supplements to help you decide which would be best for you.

What to know about Papillex™

Papillex™ is a nutritional supplement and immune support that was designed to correct nutrient deficiencies commonly found in individuals with HPV.

The supplement contains beta carotene, vitamin E, vitamin C, folate, selenium, and indole-3-carbinol. These nutrients have been consistently found to be low in individuals with persistent HPV infections. Moreover, increased levels have been associated with improvements in HPV through powerful antioxidant capabilities and inhibiting cancer cell growth.

Papillex™ also contains immune-modulating compounds like astragalus, reishi, and green tea extract. The research on these compounds shows powerful anti-viral properties that stimulate the immune system to eradicate infections.

Together, the supplement offers well-rounded nutrient and immune support.

The micronutrients found in Papillex™ can help support general health in most individuals. The supplement might be right for you if your diet is low in fruits in vegetables, you have difficulty absorbing foods into your diet, or you have high levels of stress. Papillex™ is not recommended in pregnancy due to its Vitamin A concentration, which can be toxic in fetal development.

Dosage: If you are HPV positive and/or have cervical dysplasia take two capsules twice daily. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon 2-3 hours away from food. As dysplasia improves and HPV is eradicated, you can decrease the dosage to 2 capsules once a day for maintenance and general immune support.

What to know about AHCC®

AHCC® is new to the Papillex toolbox.

The product was launched in 2020 following research studies supporting its use in eradicating high-risk HPV infections. The supplement contains a mushroom extract derived from the shiitake mushroom. The extract is one of a kind and only manufactured by one company out of Japan, Amino Up Chemical Co.

AHCC® acts on the immune system by stimulating molecules like cytokines, NK cells, and dendritic cells. These molecules help support a healthy immune response against viral invaders.

We are only starting to research and understand the variety of uses of AHCC®. The compound has been researched for its use in eradicating viral infections, including HPV. In a randomized control trial participants taking AHCC® for 3-6 months had a 66.7% clearance rate of high-risk HPV infection. In contrast, in the general population, the expected clearance rate of HR-HPV is around 0-10%.

AHCC® is well tolerated in most individuals and supports general health. Because AHCC is a strong immune stimulant, it may be too stimulating for individuals with autoimmune conditions. The supplement may be right for you if you are prone to colds and flu and frequent infection.

Dosage: If you have an active HPV infection and signs of cervical dysplasia, take 2 capsules twice daily, away from food. Continue this for 3-6 months. Reduced the dosage to 2 capsules daily for another 3-6 months. AHCC® has not been studied for use for over one year.

Before purchasing AHCC make sure the product has a registered TM or R sign next to its name. Products sold without this label as not sourced from the real AHCC source and do not include the compounds evaluated in clinical research trials.

The power couple

You can also supplement AHCC® and Papillex™ together for extra support. The duo provides both micronutrient and added immune support against HPV.

How do I know if it’s working?

It isn’t always easy to know if your supplements are effective.

Herbal and nutritional supplements act slow and gently. It can take time and consistent use to have an impact. Making it difficult to know if they have made any difference. We recommend keeping track of basic indicators like energy levels, the number of days sick, level of dysplasia found on Pap testing, and HPV positivity to see how your supplementation is working for you!
